Spring manual activity: top 3 ideas to make with children

by | Apr 13, 2022 | Do It Yourself

Ah, spring is finally here! Nature is waking up, birds are coming back and the sun is shining. What if we took advantage of this beautiful weather to do some activities with the kids? Even better, Kidlee has some easy crafts and activities to get you and your kids excited about the new season. So let's get the ball rolling and start with the first spring craft to try with the kids!

A useful spring craft: the spring bottle

Need a new spring-themed water pitcher? At the same time, have some paint and a glass bottle on hand? We've got just the craft idea you need! The child will need to start by painting spring herbs and flowers on one side of the bottle.

To make it go faster, don't hesitate to blow dry the paint with a hair dryer. The child can then paint the other side by holding the bottle by the side that has already been painted. If not, you can also help him by holding the bottle. Now all that's left to do is let it dry. Once it is done, we fill with water and we admire the work of the chief!

Rainbow cardboard plate

A beautiful rainbow for pep, energy and color! You will need:

  • Cardboard plate
  • Yellow paint
  • Orange and yellow paper
  • Rainbow colored crepe paper
  • The glue
  • The scissors
  • Marker

First, start by painting the paper plate yellow. When the paint dries, fold the paper plate in half and cut along the fold to make two half circles. You will need half of the plate later.

Then draw a smiley face on half the paper plate!

Cut small triangles out of orange and yellow paper and then glue them to the back of the paper plate as shown in the picture.

Make way for the rainbow. Cut out the crepe paper and glue the different colors to the back of the paper plate.

And here you have a pretty sun with a rainbow and moreover, you made it by recycling a paper plate!

This activity is part of the ones we made for you last year, to find the rest, it is here.

A luminous ladybug, a springtime manual activity that will have an effect

Material

For this tutorial, you will need the following objects:

  • a glass globe preferably for our dear planet but a plastic globe will also do.
  • of red tissue paper
  • glue varnish
  • a glue gun
  • a polystyrene ball Ø 5 cm
  • paint and a paint marker (black)
  • mobile eyes to be planted
  • a black caterpillar
  • adhesive lace (green)
  • a glue gun
  • a pair of scissors
  • a varnish / paint brush
  • a wooden pick
  • a LED candle

That's it, you've reached the end of the list. So, yes, we know it's long but I promise this DIY is worth it!

Method

First, cut out a few squares of red tissue paper about 4 x 4 cm. Then, cover the globe with tissue paper by applying a layer of glue varnish on it and gluing the squares all over the surface. Pass a layer of varnish glue on each square that you glue on the globe. And let it dry for a few hours!

On the other hand, we attack the ball of polystyrene. By planting it on a wooden spike and then you must paint it black. Once the paint is dry, stick a pair of eyes in the ball to give life to the ladybug's head. All it needs now are the antennae! To do this, cut two pieces of caterpillar about 7 cm long and stick them into the ball.

Now it's time for assembly! You have to glue the head of the ladybug on the plastic globe using a glue gun. Of course, don't forget to make a little black dot on the red globe! Finally, decorate the lid of the globe with green adhesive lace for that little springtime touch. Place an LED candle in the lid and screw it back on to light up the ladybug.

To decorate, you can also make paper flowers to place around the ladybug! And we say thank you to 10finger for this great tuto!
